All eyes will be on Olds College on July 6, 7 and 8 as the first FutureFarm Canada Expo will take over the central Alberta campus.

dmg Events and Olds College have teamed up to put on the three-day event, which will be packed with precision seeding demonstrations, educational seminars, networking, entertainment and fun for the kids.

dmg Events Executive Vice President Wes Scott tells Rural Roots Canada the expo will focus on the future of agriculture.

“The focus of the show is really to put some education back into the industry and bring some of the hot topics in agriculture to the forefront, things like precision farming and farm to fork,” said Scott.   “There’s a lot of focus right now around organics and we want to bring some focus to all the different aspects of agriculture from both cattle and livestock through to grains and production that way.”

Scott says Olds is the perfect location to hold it.

“It is right in the heart of farm country and working with Olds College is fantastic because we have a great venue that we get to leverage as well as being a top agricultural college.”

He says July is a great time to put on an event like this.

“Early July seemed to make the most sense for the farming community and we’re hoping to have top notch weather for an outdoor farm show.”

Scott says there’s a lot more than just the large exhibition and live demos.

“We have educational features, but we also have a lot of fun things going on. We have three days of live entertainment that is focused on Alberta hospitality, a good microbrewery beer gardens featuring Alberta product.  We are doing something fun for the kids, we have a future farmer fun zone that we are developing as well so there are a lot of things for the whole family.”
