Dan James, from Queensland, Australia, grew up knowing he wanted to work with horses, and he knew that the Calgary Stampede was a show that he had to be a part of at some point in his life.

Years ago when I first started getting into this business I knew what I wanted to do so I wrote a list and on that list was Calgary Stampede so it`s kind like I can finally tick that one off and go, yah got to go here and be part of the Stampede,” said James.

James says working with horses has allowed him to see the world.

“We’ve had the opportunity to travel across the world, to date we’ve been all across Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Japan, South America, all across the United States and of course up here to Canada now.  So, it’s been a great opportunity to get opportunity to experience and see the world from this kind of format of traveling and performing with the horses.”

James says his passion originally landed him at a ranch or as they call it a station, where he managed the horses and learned a lot as a result.

He says if you want to get into this line of work, you have to put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears.
