A 10-year-old Saskatchewan boy who had a passion for showing cattle has passed away from injuries suffered in a farming accident.

Cody Sibbald of Beechy, Saskatchewan was critically injured when a tractor he was riding left the roadway and rolled into a ditch full of water in early July.

He was to show one of his steer projects at the Calgary Stampede just days after the accident happened.  His sister took his place and showed his steer in the UFA Junior Steer Classic in support of her brother.

Cody was flown to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon by STARS where he died this past week from the injuries he suffered.

Following the accident an account was set-up by Cody’s relative, Jay Sibbald of Cochrane, Alberta, to raise money for STARS. In only a couple of days, they raised $27,000 and that number continues to grow.

A celebration of life will be held this weekend in Beechy.

The family has asked donations in Cody’s memory be made to STARS Air Ambulance.
