Farms across the province will be bustling with visitors eager to get a first hand look at where their food comes from and rural lifestyle this weekend.

Alberta Open Farm Days continues to grow at an unprecedented rate with a record number of farms participating this year.

Now in its fourth year, the event has grown to include more than 100 sites that will open their gates and their arms to welcome people.   Visitors will share in local stories, see on-farm demonstrations and buy locally grown and produced products.

Participants will include:

  • Bison and cattle ranches
  • Stables and petting zoos
  • Guest ranches, bed and breakfasts
  • Organic operations
  • Alpaca, sheep, llama, goat, poultry farms
  • Honey, fruit, vegetable, grain and u-pick farms
  • Winery/meadery
  • Corn mazes

To give participants an even better taste of the two-day event, there is also once again a culinary segment to the two days.  Local chefs will be at 23 different locations working hand-in-hand with producers to give visitors a taste of what producers in Alberta grow.

Open Farm Days is a collaboration involving the Government of Alberta, Ag for Life, the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies, Travel Alberta and participating host farms and ranches in support of Alberta’s agri-food and ag-tourism industries.
