Saskatoon (Rural Roots Canada) – Just in time for harvest, CXN360 has launched a Progressive Web App to help farmers market the grain they are taking off their fields.

In a statement, CXN Chief Technical Officer David Callele says the new PWA will bring a next-level user experience to their members.

“It will be faster and provide them easier access while allowing us to provide services and updates more quickly,” Callele said.

Callele adds one of the main reasons they chose a PWA over a native app is their great respect for the privacy of their customers.

“By staying within a web – browser format, there is no need to access a user’s personal data and there are no device permissions needed to run the app.”

The announcement of the upgraded platform comes in a year where CXN360 has seen significant growth, announcing just a few months ago they had surpassed the 10-million acres of members mark making it Canada’s largest online grain marketing network.

Among the neat features of the PWA is the notification stream, which is designed to serve as an alternative to text messages or emails.

So instead of the farmer’s phone going off every few minutes when they get an offer, the user can turn off the texts and emails and just rely on the stream.

The PWA also informs the user when they are in a no cell zone and accessing the internet is impossible, which happens frequently in rural areas.  The user no longer has to wait for their web browser to time-out.
