In the Fall of 2017, the community of Balzac lost a dedicated community member in Garth Bishop. In the wake of the tragedy, Stanley Jones and the Balzac Beef club decided to raise this year’s 4-H on Parade charity steer and will be donating the money raised from the steer’s sale to his young family. Bishop was an alumnist of the Balzac Beef Club. The steer will be auctioned off around 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018.
