Edmonton, AB (Rural Roots Canada) – Agriculture Financial Services (AFSC) has announced the nominees for the 2026 Women in Ag Awards, recognizing women across Alberta whose leadership and community involvement are shaping the province’s agriculture and agribusiness sectors.
Now in its fifth year, the Women in Ag Awards highlight the many roles women play in agriculture, from production and research to finance, education, advocacy and community leadership. AFSC received 74 nominations this year, reflecting both the program’s growth and the increasing recognition of women’s leadership in the sector.

Nominees come from communities across the province. AFSC says the list reflects the “depth of diversity” of women’s contributions to Alberta agriculture, many of whom balance leadership roles with family and community commitments.
Winners are selected by a committee that includes industry leaders, media representatives, youth advocates and, when possible, a past award recipient. The committee reviews nominations based on leadership, impact, and mentorship within the ag community.
Recipients of the 2026 Women in Ag Awards will be announced on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day.
