As June comes to a close, and some of the business of getting seed in the ground and cows out to pasture dies down, Alberta’s  young farmers and ranchers across the province have a chance to take a breath and look at the rest of the to do list.  While taking that breath, AYFR would like to introduce one of their newer board members, Charlotte Wasylik from Vermilion, AB.

Raised on a mixed farm that has commercial cattle, grain and hay production, as well as sheep, poultry, and other animals over the years, Charlotte developed and fostered a love for all animals.  She was a 4-H member for eleven years, always having a beef project, but also getting involved with both the outdoor and the baking club.  She says her years in 4-H really grew her passion for agriculture and made her appreciate the compelling sense of having a purpose and being needed every morning when she jumped out of bed.

Charlotte has not limited her community involvement to 4-H, but has been a director of the Vermilion Agriculture Society for 8 years, noting, she may have started a bit younger than was allowed.  She has worked for the Vermilion Agriculture Society for the past 6 years, managing all entries for the livestock shows.   The popular country fair brings thousands of attendees from across the province and will be taking place this year July 26, 27, & 28.

With that experience behind her and her passion for agriculture pushing her forward, Charlotte currently holds the Agriculture Coordinator, Event & International Agriculture Marketing position at Northlands in Edmonton.  With this position, she has the opportunity to work with international buyers at Farmfair International and promote Canadian genetics to the world.

Charlotte became involved with AYFR just this year and is excited to be part of a group of like-minded young farmers who can share ideas on emerging technologies, advancements and efficiencies.  She is excited to work with the group to host great events throughout the province.  Keep your eyes peeled as we do just that, starting with a great summer tour happening near Rolling Hills, AB, July 25, 2018.
