Calgary, AB (Rural Roots Canada) – The Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) is calling on producers to share their views on proposed livestock traceability regulations through a recently launched online survey.
The survey comes in the wake of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) decision to pause the publication of amendments to Part XV (Traceability) of the Health of Animals Regulations following concerns raised by producers and industry groups.

It’s asking producers to share their views through an online survey of 15 questions. It’s designed to collect producer feedback to help shape the CCA’s next steps.
The CFIA says the amendments are intended to strengthen traceability and disease response across the livestock sector. It has paused publication to allow for further consultation with producers, provinces, and industry stakeholders, stressing that a credible animal health system is essential for protecting livestock, supporting producers, and enabling trade.
The CCA has compiled information about Canada’s traceability system and known facts about the proposed changes on its website.
