Calgary (Rural Roots Canada) – Mid-July hail claim numbers across the prairies were down compared to previous weeks, according to the Canadian Crop Hail Association (CCHA).

In all, member companies are investigating 269 claims of crop damage from storms that occurred July 13-19.

Storms produced pea to golf ball-sized hail across Western Canada, resulting in reports of minor damage in most areas.

Bruce Lowe, AG Direct Hail Insurance, says that the week was relatively calm for hail damage across Western Canada.

“Alberta saw more intense storms as compared to Saskatchewan and Manitoba, specifically one on July 13,” says Lowe.
