Orlando, Florida (Rural Roots Canada) – Kubota is giving its sub-compact tractor lineup a major overhaul.
The compact equipment company is replacing its long-running BX sub-compact tractor platform with a redesigned lineup that offers increased loader capacity, new mower options and more technology.
“As you know, we created this category,” Yannick Montagano, President of Kubota Canada, tells Rural Roots Canada. “And being the creator of this category comes with a little bit of responsibility: keeping up with the customer needs, and that’s what we’re really excited about.”
The new BX90 Series includes five configurations ranging from 19.3 to 23.9 gross horsepower. It marks a significant redesign of a tractor line Kubota first introduced in 2000.
“We’re really excited about the new BX product lineup,” says Andrew Marshall, Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Dealer Development at Kubota Canada. “When you look at the segments that we serve, whether it’s with the residential, agricultural, commercial or construction, there’s a use for this tractor across the board.”
Among the biggest changes is increased loader capacity. Redesigned LA355 and LA405 loaders can lift up to 721 and 904 pounds, respectively.
The BX2390 and BX2690 models also feature increased hydraulic flow and pressure, which the company says will result in quicker loader cycle times and improved response at lower engine speeds.
“The BX90 Series was designed around what today’s property owners value most: productivity, comfort, and choice, while building on the quality and versatility that has made Kubota a trusted leader in sub-compact tractors,” said Matt McDonald, senior product operations manager with Kubota Tractor Corporation.

Kubota has also redesigned the tractor’s mowing system, offering new 54- and 60-inch welded-steel mower decks. An available drive-over deck includes an auto-coupling driveline that connects as the tractor moves over it.
Operators will notice another change underfoot. The BX90 switches to side-by-side hydrostatic transmission pedals for forward and reverse operation, replacing the previous pedal arrangement.
The lineup begins with the 19.3-horsepower BX2190. The 21.6-horsepower BX2390 Deluxe adds the larger LA405 loader along with electronically controlled PTO engagement and three-point hitch position control.
At the top of the lineup, the 23.9-horsepower BX2690 Premium adds an electronically controlled engine, full-colour LCD display, programmable engine-speed settings and joystick-integrated throttle controls.
Two backhoe-equipped versions, the BX2390S and BX2690S Premium, round out the lineup.
“We’re really trying to enhance the operator experience,” explains Justin Parrott, product manager for compact and utility tractors at Kubota Canada. “If you’re somebody that really cares about getting as much done as possible in the least amount of time, that premium tractor is going to be a great fit.”
The tractors are being positioned for smaller-scale jobs around farms, acreages and rural properties, including moving material, mowing, garden preparation and snow clearing.
