Emotions flowed over as family, friends, and well-wishers came up to congratulate the winners of the 2018 Team Cattle Penning – 10 Class.

For Clint Davis, Coralea Tanghe and Justin Seeley it’s a dream come true, one that they all had trouble containing their emotions as they processed what they had achieved at the Calgary Stampede.

Davis, who resides in Valleyview, Alberta said the win took him by surprise.

“I thought we were in the money, but I didn’t know we were in the lead though, it’s heartfelt, emotional,” said Davis.

Justin Seeley, who hails from Entwistle, Alberta, says this is really important not only to him but his aunt as well, who just happens to be his teammate too.

“It was really important to do it with my family and penning family, and I was just so excited, I have never won something this big before.”

The biggest surprise though maybe that this is only the second time the three of them competed together.

The first time being an Alberta Cattlemen’s Penning Association competition and as it turned out that’s all they needed.

Despite the inexperience of penning together, Davis says he knew this team had the real-life experience to compete at the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

“I had a lot of trust in these guys and knew that they were smart penners, cow people.  Not the arena performance guys, the guys who are out there on the ranch cow people, working cows, they understand it and I trusted them, knew they had smart reigns when it came to the game.”

Where does the team go from here?

According to Davis, Summer.. a little break, a little holiday for a week and then back to reality.
