Dawson Creek, BC (Rural Roots Canada) – The agriculture stewardship organizations CleanFarms and the Peace River Regional District are renewing a successful agricultural recycling program.

In a release, Barry Friesen, Executive Director of Cleanfarms, says that success reflects the commitment of producers across the region.
He adds When industry and local government provide accessible options, farmers step up for environmental stewardship.”
Board Chair Leonard Hiebert says the district is proud to keep agricultural plastics out of landfills and to see producers leading the way.
With the program now renewed, the PRRD has set up eight collection sites and offers a grain bag roller rental to make recycling easier. Farmers are asked to roll bags before drop-off and place baler twine in clear collection bags available free at participating sites.
Here is the complete list of drop-off sites:
- Bessborough Landfill
- Buick Creek Transfer Station
- Cecil Lake Transfer Station
- Chetwynd Landfill
- North Peace Regional Landfill
- Prespatou Transfer Station
- Rolla Transfer Station
- Tomslake Transfer Station
The grain bag roller is available for rent at a rate of $50 per day. To rent a roller, contact the PRRD at 250-784-3200 or via email at environmental.services@prrd.bc.ca.
