Alberta (Rural Roots Canada) – Alberta Farmers will gather in Edmonton this January for the Crossroads Crop Conference. Organizers have redesigned the two-day event to be more affordable and accessible.
Paula Law is the director of Alberta Canola and conference chair. She says the conference is built around what producers actually need.
“It’s a producer-focused event that’s designed to bring farmers and industry leaders together, just to share knowledge and to connect,” Law says.
This year’s theme is “Grow Boldly.” It’s about encouraging farmers to think bigger and embrace change in an ever-evolving industry. Journalist and political commentator Andrew Coyne will speak on broader issues affecting agriculture and the economy. Agrifood leader Lisa Ashton will touch on global agricultural trends. Broadcaster Chris Sheets brings what Law says is “an entertaining perspective.”

Expert sessions cover agronomy, farm business management and innovation. The conference will also host the annual general meetings for Alberta Canola, Alberta Grains, and Alberta Pulse.
Law says the real value of the conference is in the conversations that happen between sessions.
“You can chat with your neighbours, you can chat with other producers, you can chat with industry. You can chat with your commission members,” she says. “Really, it’s about getting together, chatting with everybody, and going home with maybe some new ideas or a new perspective. What we’re hoping is that we’ve got a little bit of everything in a very quick day and a half conference.”
The conference takes place Jan. 27-28, 2026, at the DoubleTree Hilton West Edmonton. Registration details are available at http://crossroadscropconference.ca.
