Regina, Sask. (Rural Roots Canada) – Agricultural Crown land leases in Saskatchewan will be offered throughout the year under a new allocation process taking effect Nov. 9, 2026.
The province says available lease opportunities, including expired leases, will be posted online through McDougall Auctioneers Ltd. as they become available, replacing the single annual offering.
Agriculture Minister David Marit says the change is intended to make the process more transparent and accessible for producers.

“By moving to an ongoing allocation model, we are providing a transparent and accessible process that better aligns lease opportunities with producer needs and supports a strong and competitive agriculture sector,” Marit said.
The province says the online process will provide fair access and public transparency by treating all agricultural producers equally.
Interested bidders must meet the eligibility requirements outlined on the provincial government’s website.
The government says it remains committed to ensuring agricultural Crown land remains accessible to producers for agricultural purposes.
Lease opportunities will be posted on the Province of Saskatchewan’s website.
