(Rural Roots Canada) – More than 1,600 crop damage claims have been filed in the wake of summer storms that rolled through the Prairies, according to the Canadian Crop Hail Association (CCHA).

With harvest underway, CCHA member companies are investigating 1,642 crop damage claims filed between July 29 through August 11. More than 75 percent of the claims were made by farms in Alberta.

“With harvest beginning in some areas, producers are reminded to leave adequate representative areas for adjusters to assess if they are harvesting, cutting, or salvaging their crops,” said Yves Dooper of the Agricultural Financial Services Corporation.
