Orlando, Fla. (Rural Roots Canada) – Tariffs and counter-tariffs continue to create challenges for Canada’s agricultural equipment industry, and Kubota Canada says having product on the ground is a key part of its strategy to manage the uncertainty.
Kubota Canada president Yannick Montagano tells Rural Roots Canada that it’s relying on inventory and strategies used during last year’s trade dispute to help limit the impact of counter-tariffs on its dealers and customers.
“It’s ensuring that we have the inventory here on Canadian soil to meet the demand of our customers for what we think is going to be potentially the duration of this particular phase,” he says.
The company is monitoring developments as the trade situation evolves.
“At the end of the day, we know that that’s creating challenges for our customers and it creates challenges for our industry as well,” added Montagano.

When it comes to specific equipment, Kubota says power units are a particular focus because they matter so much to customers.
“Those are the big-ticket items for our customers,” Montagano notes. “And this time around, there’s one particular category that has been affected by counter-tariffs, and that’s the one that we focus most of our efforts to ensure that we’re mitigating that impact for our customers and dealers.”
Montagano says the company will continue to adapt its approach as needed, with the goal of maintaining a reliable supply of equipment for Canadian customers and dealers.
